Just Because I’m Inspired to Share

Years ago, a friend introduced me to the work of John O’Donohue. His book, To Bless The Space Between Us, took my breath away.

Who was this priest turned poet?

I grew hungry to know more about him, as many of us do, when we feel a kindred spirit connection. Then I learned he had passed away. I felt such a sense of loss, even though I had never met him.

I listened to a talk on iTunes of his at the Green Belt Festival and OMG his voice! His voice is so nourishing. If you know John’s work then you and I understand each other well. And you get why I am posting this. Have you ever heard of him? If not, I encourage you right now in this moment to click the link and listen to his interview here.

Check out his website. I play his sound tracks in the background when I am having a hard day and reach for his books when I have no more words. This world is such a difficult place to understand and experience. His words bring healing in any emotional climate.

Blessings, Liliana

“On the day when
the weight deadens
on your shoulders
and you stumble,
may the clay dance
to balance you.
And when your eyes
freeze behind
the grey window
and the ghost of loss
gets in to you,
may a flock of colours,
indigo, red, green,
and azure blue
come to awaken in you
a meadow of delight.
When the canvas frays
in the currach of thought
and a stain of ocean
blackens beneath you,
may there come across the waters
a path of yellow moonlight
to bring you safely home.

May the nourishment of the earth be yours,
may the clarity of light be yours,
may the fluency of the ocean be yours,
may the protection of the ancestors be yours.
And so may a slow
wind work these words
of love around you,
an invisible cloak
to mind your life.”
